CoolSculpting Q & A
Fat cells are found throughout the human body and work to store fat that can be converted into energy. When you take in more calories than you burn, your fat cells expand to hold more fat until it’s needed.
If you embrace a healthy diet and exercise program, some of that excess fat is burned off to keep your body functioning. Your fat cells shrink, and you’ll notice your body slimming down.
However, there’s no way to control which fat cells shrink or at what pace. That can leave you with stubborn deposits of fat that stand between you and your fitness goals. That’s where CoolSculptingⓇ comes in.
CoolSculptingⓇ is an FDA-cleared body contouring treatment that removes fat cells from specific locations.
It is only available from practitioners who’ve received training on how to use the platform to deliver safe and effective results. Megan and Brandon Lingenfelter are both certified CoolSculptingⓇ providers and are proud to offer treatments to the Princeton, West Virginia community through Adorn Aesthetics.
The CoolSculpting system delivers controlled cooling to targeted areas of fat. The treatment applicator creates low temperatures, effectively freezing your fat cells. That damages the cells and prevents them from storing fat.
Over time, your body eliminates the destroyed fat cells through your lymphatic system, just as it would any other cellular debris. Once those cells are gone, you’ll have less fat in the treated area.
If CoolSculpting is right for you, the first step is marking and preparing the treatment area. A protective gel helps keep your skin comfortable while the CoolSculpting applicator is applied.
Treatment takes around 30-45 minutes, and you might feel a cold sensation, followed by tingling or numbness. You can relax and listen to music or read a book during your session. A short deep tissue massage follows, which helps mobilize the treated fat and prompt your lymphatic system to begin eliminating the fat from your body.
CoolSculpting is a body contouring tool and is not designed to be an effective way to lose weight. While treatments can reduce 20%-25% of fat in the targeted area, the process is intended to refine the shape of your body, not reduce your overall weight.
It’s also important to understand that your CoolSculpting results can change if you gain a significant amount of weight after treatment. While the fat cells damaged during your treatment will no longer remain in your body, nearby cells will expand to accommodate new accumulations of fat. That’s why CoolSculpting is best suited for people who’ve reached and successfully maintained a stable body weight.
